Citizens Participation Week in Estonia

* (1) Citizens Participation Week or CPW (Kodanike osaluse nädal) is a common activity in states of Central and Eastern Europe organised third time or third year by Central and Eastern European Citizens Network (or CEE Citizens Network or CEE CN or Kesk- ja Ida-Euroopa Kodanike Võrgustik) (See point (16))
* (2) Citizens Participation Week CPW will be realised on the last week of September, 24.09.-30.09.2007 (also week before, 17.09.-23.09.2007 and week after, 01.10.-07.10.2007)
* (3) In Estonia as the main themes of Citizens Participation Week CPW 2007 have been chosen and named three (four) big areas or spheres of activity:
0) Cooperation of partners in developing of Civil Society and Estonian Civil Society Development Concept (EKAK)
1) Funding of NGOs and their civil society development activities: needs, possibilities, initiatives (Programme of local initiatives KOP; Nordic Council of MinistersNGO support; Civil Society Development Foundation (KÜSK) and its concept)
2) Networks of NGOs and civic initiatives (international; All-Estonian; regional; local) and their cooperation (International cooperation of NGOs and networks; actions and activities of Central and Eastern European Citizens Network; actions and activities of Baltic Sea NGO Network; Summaries of the 4th CEE Citizens Network Civil Society Conference (in Estonia in May 2007))
3) The providing of Equal Opportunities for all members and target groups of society and role and possibilities of NGOs in it (the 2007 European Year of Equal Opportunities for All; Tallinn's Year of Youth 2007)
* (4) As main events of Citizens Participation Week three regional seminars - roundtables shall be organised.Seminars - roundtables shall be ended with discussion and open microphone in the main themes of CPW (funding; development of cooperation networks and their cooperation; equal opportunities)
* (5) Seminar - Roundtable of Narva and North-East-Estonia in Narva - Wednesday, 19th of September 2007; 13.00 - 17.00; in Hall of Council of City of Narva, Peetri Square 1
* (6) Seminar - Roundtable of Tartu and South-Estonia in Tartu - Tuesday, 25th of September 2007; 14.00 - 18.00; in Tähtvere Daily Centre, Tartu, Veski Street 35
* (7) Seminar - Roundtable of Tallinn and North-Estonia in Tallinn - Wednesday, 26th of September 2007; 13.00 - 17.00; in Estonian Chamber of Disabled People (EPIK), Tallinn, Toompuiestee Street 10

* (16) Central and Eastern European Citizens Network or CEE CN (See www.ceecn.net) - is connecting NGOs and civic initiatives from all states from former socialist system. Estonian NGO Roundtable / Eesti Mittetulundusühenduste Ümarlaud (hereinafter: EMÜ) and Estonian NGO Roundtable Foundation / EMÜ Sihtasutus have been active member of CEE CN from the beginning of its work, since 2001. The general aim and mission of CEE Citizens Network is to ensure democratic systems through citizen participation. Democratic systems endure when there is the mutually reinforcing practice and belief of free citizen participation. Both the practice and beliefs are new in CEE. That is why citizen participation needs to be fostered. The main and biggest value of network is cooperation of NGOs and civic initiatives from seventeen states by geographic area, including cross-boarder cooperation over boarders of European Union and cooperation with community development organisations from USA.
* (17) The arranging of activities of Citizens Participation Week is supported by Nordic Council of Ministers, Estonian Ministry of the Interior, Estonian Ministry of Foriegn Affairs, Government of City of Tallinn, Government of City of Tartu, Council of City of Narva, Association of Municipalities of Tartu County, Association of Municipalities of Harju County, Programme of local initiatives KOP (Harju County Government), Representation in Estonia of European Commission and others.
